Final Project Evaluation

For our final project Amelia cheated on her boyfriend and was killed by Stevie a couple of days later, what Stevie did not know that Chloe was watching Stevie. We follow the film a year later when Chloe returns to Amelia last resting place, Stevie is also there to show her respect to Amelia. We wanted to add Chloe in the film more because she joined our group late and ever though she completed some of the editing whist I was no holiday, we wanted Chloe to be more involved.

We did change our storyline at number of time but we stuck to the real-life story that our story was based on. Our story was based on a young girl who was killed by her boyfriend how a bet, that is the reason we called our film 50/50. We did not want to repeat the storyline exactly but we wanted to have certain elements of her story in our film. We also changed the costumers for our character, we originally had our character in chav like costumers e.g. tracksuits, hoddies and ugg boots. As we changed the storyline, the costumers did not match the storyline and the group of people who were in the film.

We used a range of different shots in our film to increase our marks. We believed that if we used a range of shots it would make the opening of the film would have more of an impact. We used shots like point of view for when Chloe puts the flower by the tree, mid shot and long shot when both girls are walking towards the scene of Amelia death. We also embraced the non-diegetic sound in the scene to allow the scene to seem more real.

For our media institution we use 'Lion gates' as we believe that is reflected the thriller genre that we wanted to show in our film. Our group did not have Hollywood or a British film in mind when we created it but looking back I would say it was a British film as it may show a life within Britain which our target audience may relate to. Our target audience was between the age range of 16-21 years of age, we would hope that chav within our target audience would go a see the film. If I was going to compare our film to a real life film it would be something like Adulthood as it reflects issues it our film which some face in Adulthood. Our original film idea was based on a social group of chav who cause trouble, the gender of our groups within the film would be a group of girls and a group of boys.

In my group I believe that we all work fairly and equally. We all had roles in the making of the film so we were  all working on something. Our original group of myself, Amelia Scott and Stevie Clark worked well but having Chloe Taris group a couple of week before the first deadline after problem with her own group help massively as when I went on holiday Chloe was able to take over on the editing.
Overall I am very pleased with our film as we used different camera shots like mid shot, long shot and point of view shot. I also feel that we changed our story line to many times and we could have changed our location and setting of the film. I feel that overall our opening of two minutes has worked well and has given us a variety of idea's on which we can elaborate on in the future or when producing future films. We decided to only include one type of backing music as it created a better atmosphere into the film, and worked well when fading out so that you would be able to hear the diegetic noises within the film which is from the speaking and noise of Amelia's head banging up against the tree.

  1. Is this your evaluation? You need to evaluate the whole process of making an opening not just describing. See Mr Dawson or myself fore the questions you need to be refering to.
